Teacher of The Year

The Darke County Retired Teachers' Association and the Darke County Educational Service Center sponsors the Darke County Teacher of the Year.  Each of the schools select their candidate for this honor.  The participating schools are: Ansonia, Arcanum-Butler, Bradford, Franklin Monroe, Greenville, Mississinawa Valley, Tri-Village, and Versailles.  This year elementary  school teachers will be honored, and next year high  school teachers will be honored.  A luncheon is held on the day of the teacher interviews at the Darke County Educational Service Center.  Retired teachers sponsor and introduce each of the candidates at this luncheon.

Following the interviews, the name of the Teacher of the Year is placed into a sealed envelope and held until the May meeting of the Darke County Retired Teachers Association.  At the May meeting, each candidate is introduced and presented with an Apple Award.  The envelope is opened and the name of the Darke County Teacher of the Year is revealed.  A plaque is presented to the winner.
